William Yang

The 2025 Lancaster International Piano & Chamber Music Festival begins with a performance by first prize winner of the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition in Miami, Florida! 

Twenty-three-year-old William Yang won first prize at the 2025 National Chopin Piano Competition in Miami, Florida. Along with the $100,000 first prize, he also received a recording project on the Steinway label and a concert tour that includes a performance at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in June, 2025.

As a soloist, Mr. Yang has appeared with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and is currently a Kovner Fellow at The Juilliard School studying under Robert McDonald.

Duo Althea

First Prize winner of the 2024 Lancaster International Piano Festival Chamber music Competition, Italian Duo Althea, features Nicola Possenti , piano; and Paolo Pellegrini, clarinet.

Nicola Possenti and Paolo Pellegrini form a musical duo that stands out for its musical exploration dedicated to the chamber music of little-known and often marginalized composers, alongside the classical repertoire for this ensemble.. United by a deep passion for this repertoire, their project aims to subvert the traditional hierarchies of chamber music, challenging the dominance of string instruments and offering an innovative vision of a genre traditionally confined to classical circuits.

The Complete Brahms Piano Quartets

LIPF faculty take the stage for a celebration of Brahms with a performance of the complete piano quartets!

Featuring Matthew Graybil, piano, James Jin, Violin, Simon Maurer, viola, Hsin-Yi Wu, cello, Chao Wu, piano, Heejin Chang, viola, Julian Langford, cello, Francesco Mirabella, piano, Simon Maurer, violin, Chia-Yi Tseng, cello.

Celebrating Milena Mollova

Winner of many awards from authoritative international competitions such as: The first international Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud international competition for pianists and violinists in Paris, the international Munich competition of the ARD – the largest public media in Germany, and the Ludwig van Beethoven international piano competition in Vienna, world-renowned pianist and pedagogue Milena Mollova belongs to those few Bulgarian musicians fortunate to have formed as artists in the school of such giants of musical performance and artistry as prof. Emil Gillels, Prof. Dimitar Nenov and Prof. Panka Pelishek.

Wael Farouk

LIPF Artist-In-Residence Wael Farouk takes the stage for a complete program of Prokofiev!

Egyptian-American pianist and LIPF’s Artist-in-Residence Wael Farouk has performed internationally in such venues as the White Hall in St. Petersburg, Schumann’s house in Leipzig, and Carnegie Hall in New York, where his solo debut in 2013 was described as “absolutely masterful.”

American String Quartet with Alexander Kobrin & Chris Shih

Internationally recognized American String Quartet takes the stage alongside LIPF Artist-In-Residence Alexander Kobrin & Lancaster local Christopher Shih!

Internationally recognized as one of the world's finest quartets, the American String Quartet has spent decades honing the luxurious sound for which it is famous. The Quartet is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024. They have performed in all fifty states and have appeared in the most important concert halls worldwide.

Two Van Cliburn Competition Gold Medalists Alexander Kobrin and Christopher Shih will join them this evening to perform the Schumann and Franck piano quintets.

Van Cliburn Gold Medalist & LIPF Artist-In-Residence, Alexander Kobrin takes the stage for a performance of Schubert's Four Impromptus D. 935 (Op. 142) and Franz Liszt's Sonata in B Minor, S. 178.

Artist-In-Residence, Wael Farouk, and Co-Artistic Director, Xun Pan, take the stage for an unforgettable concert with the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra! Featuring Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 15 and Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor, Op 54.
